A veteran to the salon industry, Marie Lorentz has pursued advanced training in color and hair shaping with Redken, L'Oreal Professional and Paul Mitchell, with further hair shaping instruction at Toni&Guy. Her passion for embracing natural tones in combination with the current trends in hair color creates a high demand for her work. She excels at creating beautiful blondes and natural brunettes using color melting and balayage techniques. Believing strongly that all hair texture is beautiful and healthy hair is beautiful hair, Marie can help you enhance your natural texture while maintaining the integrity of the hair.
Melissa Greenaway, Wedding and Events Specialist
Melissa Greenaway's vast experience in the salon industry includes a strong background and focus on wedding and event hair, as well as styling for photo shoots. Having well over a decade of practice in the field her expert color training includes work with Redken and L'Oreal Professional. She has undergone advanced training in haircutting and shaping with L'Oreal Professional and Toni&Guy. Melissa’s work has been featured in national wedding magazines and famous annual events in Charleston throughout the years, continuing to stand out in America’s wedding hotspot.
Christen White, Stylist
Christen has been classically trained with the Aveda Institute of Charlotte, NC. Her fashion background and attention to detail provide her with the tools necessary to create beautiful hair. Christen has extensive training in keratin treatments and precision cutting. She has mentored under Toni&Guy hair educators learning advanced techniques. Her knowledge has been furthered through L’Oreal Professional and Redken courses. Christen strives to customize each and every look while maintaining the integrity of the hair.
Karen Horn, Stylist
Karen graduated from the Headhunters Institute of Maine in 2002 and continued her education by attending the 2 day Redken Exchange cutting course with Sam Villa in New York City. Feeling inspired, she went on to attend a 3 day color symposium with Redken in Las Vegas lead by some of the top educators in cosmetology. Staying up to date on developing trends and techniques is important to Karen in order to best help clients who want to change their look as well as those looking to maintain their current style. Karen's bridal hair has been featured in several wedding blogs as well as famous Charleston, Maine, and Texas wedding venues.
Kearsen Etheridge, Stylist
Kearsen is an honors graduate of Charleston Cosmetology Institute (June 2014). Her love for color and cuts brought her to Canvas Salon mentoring under Charleston’s most experienced and talented master stylists. Her nine years of hospitality experience combined with a passion for styling hair is a guarantee that your salon experience will be like no other. She has a strong interest in working artistically with color and cuts based on facial bone structure. Kearsen is a firm believer in continuing education and staying on top of new techniques and trends developing in the world of cosmetology.
Janie Van Slembrouck, Stylist
Detroit native Janie brings her hometown's unparalleled work ethic with her to the Low Country. From a flawless eyebrow wax to a complete style makeover, this girl is ready to roll up her sleeves to create perfection. After graduating from Maly's Excel Academies of Cosmetology in 2006, Janie has been refining her skills -- coloring, styling and cutting techniques. Paying attention to each and every detail isn't just what Janie does -- it's what she loves to do. Interacting with clients, and collaborating with their ideas, allows her to create a modern, unique style for everyone. Whether customers want to maintain their current style or go through a stunning transformation, Janie is here to work some of her magic.
Teresa Zito, Stylist
"I tend to find my own value in how I can be of service to others." Born and raised in Michigan, Teresa graduated from Paul Mitchell the School, Orlando in 2011 and also trained at the Redken Exchange NYC. Her passion for continuing education and life in general has lead her around the world, working primarily in Raleigh NC as a stylist and studio owner. Teresa is NovaLash certified and an Olaplex full service stylist and loves working with color no matter what the spectrum. She firmly believes in thorough consultations guaranteeing both client satisfaction and maintaining the health of hair.
Samantha Minghetti-Crocker, Stylist
Here from New York Samantha is a master stylist and colorist with over 23 years in the salon industry. Samantha graduated from a Redken certified school and has had advanced training in haircut design and style from both Vidal Sassoon and Aveda. She has had extensive color training in NYC with Matrix and Goldwell, and mentored under top salon professionals such as celebrity stylists Oscar Bond and Michael Karg. Samantha is certified in keratin bond and tape-in extensions, as well as advanced balayage, ombre, and hair painting techniques. She loves to showcase her talents by creating elegant and romantic updo's and special occasion hair.
Genevieve Russell, Stylist
After graduating from Georgia State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Genevieve decided to pursue her artistic passion for hair color and design. Genevieve was educated at Charleston Cosmetology Institute and apprenticed in a Redken Elite Salon, where she received extensive training and hands on experience under Certified Redken Specialists in Atlanta, GA. She has had advanced product knowledge, as well as color, cutting, and styling classes under top national Redken educators that have molded her into the stylist that she is today. Genevieve specializes in balayage, natural color and highlighting techniques, corrective color, curly/high textured hair, and men's cutting.
Mary-Elizabeth Chapman, Junior Stylist
Mary Elizabeth moved from her hometown Easley, South Carolina to attend the College of Charleston. After graduating from C of C with a bachelor's degree in psychology she continued to pursue her true passion and entered Paul Mitchell the school, where she graduated with honors. Post-graduation she has maintained her focus on growth within the profession by participating in fashion week 2016, local magazine editorials, and hands on education classes with Oribe regional educators. Mary Elizabeth is a certified HotHeads tape-in extension specialist which enables her to add volume, length, and/or specialty colors for any client wanting a new look.
Lindsay Schooler, Manager
Lindsay is a Charleston native with a bachelor’s degree in management from the University of South Carolina. Lindsay worked as a salon coordinator during her 6 years at USC and fell in love with small business, the salon industry, and creating close relationships with clients through exceptional customer service. Understanding the importance of multi-channel communication, Lindsay has transformed Canvas into a salon where you can book an appointment by calling, texting, or emailing for customer convenience. As our manager, Lindsay will go above and beyond to make sure you leave Canvas with an unforgettable experience that you will be excited to come back for again and again.
