Shannon, our most fun loving team member, with the most contagious laugh, began her career at Canvas in 2015 after following her dream to become a hairstylist. She relocated to Denver for a couple of years where she continued to hone her skills and become the incredible artist she is today! When she returned to Canvas in 2019, we were beyond thrilled to welcome her back. Shannon is a master artist and creator! She took over Canvas in 2024 and rebranded as Canvas on King. She executes beautiful balayage and color blending. Whether you’re looking for a natural color placement, or bold dimension, Shannon is your girl! Her eye for detail is sharp, so don’t be afraid to bring inspo pictures with you to your appointment.

When Shannon is not in the salon, you will find her loving on her Australian shepherd, Marloe or in the kitchen cooking up delicious meals. If she wasn’t behind the chair, she’d be running a giant rescue ranch for dogs.

Marie found herself behind the chair after a chance meeting with a salon owner in the sushi bar during her college days. Graduating from the College of Charleston with a degree in psychology, she headed straight to cosmetology school to pursue her dream. Her continued education with Oribe, Redken, Loreal and Paul Mitchell has kept her on the cutting edge of styling hair. She has been putting her creative talents to work since 2003 and loving every minute of it! Marie has built her strong clientele over the years by creating lasting relationships. She believes that putting a creative plan into action helps build trust between stylist and client. Marie says “applying my creativity in a very systematic way has always been my approach to hair. I like systems and consistency!” Being able to re-create her work, if her client desires, is extremely important to her. When she’s not in the salon, she is soaking up family time with her husband Dan and their children Olivia and Isaac.

Remember Norm from Cheers? Well every client at Canvas is a Norm, thanks to Lindsay! She is a boss at remembering you and letting you know how awesome you are! Lindsay is a Charleston native with a bachelor’s degree in management from the University of South Carolina. Lindsay worked as a salon coordinator during her 5 years at USC and fell in love with small business, the salon industry, and creating close relationships with clients through exceptional customer service. Understanding the importance of multi-channel communication, Lindsay has transformed Canvas into a salon where you can book an appointment by calling, texting, or emailing for customer convenience. When not at work Lindsay loves to travel with her husband, hang out at Folly Beach with her daughter, and cheer on her favorite MLS and NBA players. As our manager, Lindsay goes above and beyond to make sure you leave Canvas with an unforgettable experience that you will be excited to come back for again and again.

Fun Fact: She has 2 dogs, a pit-bull and a chihuahua. The chihuahua is the boss.

Kensie’s passion for the industry began when she was just 16 years old. As a front desk concierge, she fell in love with the salon environment and after some encouragement from a fellow team mate, she enrolled in cosmetology school. She attended the Aveda Institute in Chapel Hill and has been behind the chair since 2017. Her creative spirit guides her in bringing her client’s vision into a reality. Her hair cutting technique is precise and her passion for color is clear. Finishing the look is one of Kensie’s greatest gifts. Her braiding skills are outstanding!

Fun fact about Kensie: She grew up on a farm and loves all farm animals! If she weren’t working in the salon, she’d be working as a wildlife conservationist.

Canvas welcomed Charli in June, 2022 after graduating from The Lexington Technology Center. She has been an excellent student in the assistant program! Her creativity and curiosity fuel her and she has undeniable passion for making people feel their best. She takes her position of learning seriously and applies what she has learned through her own work behind the chair. Charli’s future is so bright! We can not wait to see where her positivity and creativity take her!

After graduating from Paul Mitchell The School in October 2022, we welcomed Payton to Canvas! She is currently enrolled in our assistant program and is proving to be an excellent learner and stylist! Payton has a natural talent for styling and it is clear she is exactly where she is meant to be. Payton’s favorite part of the workday is watching and learning from her coworkers. She finds inspiration being surrounded by those who have similar goals and interests. Payton loves to travel and experience new places.

I was born and raised here in Charleston. I chose to enter the beauty industry because I believe it’s the most rewarding industry there is! Not only do I get to create beautiful hair, but with each client I’m able to get to know new people and their lives everyday. I am honored to have clients let me accentuate their beauty.

Being surrounded by creativity and transformations every day sparked my love for the industry, leading me to pursue cosmetology. I graduated from Paul Mitchell Cosmetology School and am so excited to be apart of the Canvas family. As a stylist, my goal is to help clients feel confident and beautiful. Sam, a Charleston local, is the man of many talents! Energetic and particular, Sam’s consultations and execution of desired results with clients has made his 10 years of hair very successful! Sam’s clientele favorites lived in custom luxury color placement, expert blonding, hair extensions with Keratine Tip and volume weft, men and women’s hair cutting including men’s skin fading and customized women’s cuts. Out of the salon, Sam is a cat dad of Koba and Monkey and is dedicated to his life of fitness and health. If you’re visiting, Sam is the perfect person to ask what to do in town, as he is also an event producer and very active in the nightlife scene of Charleston, SC!
